Tyra L. Francis was born on June 21, 1968 in Walla Walla, WA to Gene and Carol Ferderer. On Nov. 3, 2011, after a brief battle with melanoma cancer, Tyra went home to be with Christ Jesus. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 11th at 4:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 123 Auto Drive in Boise, ID.
 Remembrances may be left for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian, ID. Tyra “Ty” was raised in Walla Walla. She attended Green Park Elementary, Pioneer Jr. High and graduated in 1986 from Walla Walla High. While in school, she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Tyra continued her education at Walla Walla Community College. After receiving her Associates degree, she transferred to Eastern Washington University and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. The pursuit of this degree allowed Tyra to follow her desire to serve and love others. While attending EWU, Tyra met her husband, Leo Francis. They were married on March 24, 1990. They began their family when daughter, Jordan Diane was born on June 9, 1992. Their son, Austin Gene “Auggie”, was born on May 30, 1996. Tyra was employed with Warm Springs Counseling Center. Prior to this she worked for Ada County Sheriff’s Youth Foundation and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Tyra had various other opportunities to use her incredible social work skills. Tyra enjoyed all activities that included her family: baseball games, traveling, camping and shopping. Tyra continued to get in her daily run. One of her most memorable times was the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure event in San Diego, California. Tyra, along with two very special high school friends, Lora Baker Abbey and Angela Doyle Fishback completed this in honor of her sister, Tina, who is a cancer survivor. Tyra’s spirit was strong. She wanted to be used for God’s purpose. The memories of Tyra’s joyous personality will remain with us and her spirit lives forever with Christ Jesus. Tyra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Harry and Edna Ferderer and Jack and Betty Bollinger. She is survived by her husband, Leo and their two children: Jordan and Auggie; her parents, Gene and Carol Ferderer; sister Tina Holbrook; brother Troy Ferderer; her father and mother in-law Gordon and Ginny White; and brother and sister in-law Tom Francis and Diana Winslow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Tyra L. Francis Memorial Fund at TruGrocer FCU, PO Box 8145, Boise, ID 83707 on behalf of her children and the fight against cancer. “Good game Tyra…good game!” I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Ty was always a bright spot during high school and college. That great smile! I had the priviledge of cheerleading with her. I haven't seen her in years, but memories of her have crossed my mind periodically. To her family, I'm so sorry for your loss. For the parents of Tyra. I did not know your daughter well, but had met her during my time as a board memberber at the Children's Home Society. When one looses a child to death for me it was most comforting to know that "I/You" CAN survive this time of seemingly unending grief. It’s been a long time since I last seen Tyra, but I will always remember what a great person she was. Tyra could always brighten any room; she was always a joy to have classes with. As a board member at the Children's Home Society I had the privilege of working with Tyra on fund raising events. Although I did not work with her a lot, I was so touched on how she would just open her heart to the children she served so unconditionally. She is a beautiful spirit and will be missed deeply.
