Shirley Alice (Jackson) Rhodes, age 83, of Meridian, Idaho died January 14, 2012 at Meridian. Friends may call at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N. Main St., in Meridian, from 5 - 7 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. Memorial services will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1824 W. 3rd St., Meridian, at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2012.
Mrs. Rhodes was born January 27, 1928, at Payette, Idaho, to Coy and Anna Jackson. She married Donald Loren Rhodes on June 3, 1949 at Boise. Except for seven years in Long Beach, California, they lived in Boise and Meridian, Idaho. She attended Boise schools, graduating from Boise High School in 1946. She studied secretarial skills at Grimm’s School of Business and Boise Secretarial School. Most of her working years were fifteen and a half years spent at the Idaho State Dept. of Employment, where she was an administrative secretary for much of that time. She retired June 9, 1979. Mrs. Rhodes had been a member of the International Association of Personnel in Employment Security, and Mixmasters, a branch of the Toastmasters Speech Club. She was an active member of various Baptist churches over the years, and at the time of her death, she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Meridian. Survivors include her husband, Donald L. Rhodes of Meridian; two daughters, Jacque Lynn Martin and her husband, Drew, of The Bronx, New York; Janet Lee Rhodes and her husband, Jesse Howard III, of Cathedral City, California; a son, Steven D. Rhodes and his wife, Marsha, of Meridian, Idaho; 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; a brother, James C. Jackson of Boise; three nephews and two great-nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Anna Jackson and a brother, Willard L. Jackson. Memorials may be made to the Boise Rescue Mission, 1415 W. Jefferson St., Boise, Idaho 83702, or to Fellowship Baptist Church, 1824 W. 3rd St., Meridian, Idaho 83646. |




Pastor Jeff Estes of Fellowship Baptist Church will officiate. Private interment will be held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home. Remembrances may be left for the family at
