S.D. "Marty" Martindale Print

S.D. “Marty” Martindale died on December 9, 2011 at home in Meridian, Idaho.  He was born in Oakley, Idaho on May 1, 1938.

altAt 17 he earned his GED and joined the Air Force in 1956.  In 1958 he was stationed at Kirkland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There he met his future wife, Beatrice Landavazo. They married and had three children, Duane, Venetia and Valerie.

During his 21 ½ year career in the Air Force Marty was stationed at several stateside bases as well as Eniwetok, France, Holland, Thailand, and the Philippines. Marty retired from the military in 1977 and moved the family to Idaho. After one year in eastern Idaho they relocated to the Hagerman Valley where he began driving truck and soon took a job at the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery. They lived in Hagerman for over 20 years.

Bea also worked at the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery, and when she retired they decided to relocate to Meridian to be closer to their daughters, who both lived in the Boise area. Their son, Duane soon joined them in the Treasure Valley.

Marty is survived by, his wife of 53 years, Bea, his children; Duane and Melanie Martindale, Venetia and Dave Gempler, Valerie and John Hadley, his sister Linda Brennan and sister-in-law Juanita Landavazo, all of the Boise area.

Marty had 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Hagerman, Idaho on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00 am; officiated by family friend, Jim McCaughey. Burial to follow on a later date at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery.  Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.  Remembrances may be left online for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com
