WORLD'S LARGEST GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ALPHORN MAKER DIES IN BOISE, IDAHO
Peter Paul Wutherich passed away peacefully at his home in Boise on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
He was born in a farmhouse in Lincoln Township, Pottawatomie, Kansas October 22 in 1918 the 10th of 11 siblings.  He was born to Peter Paul Wutherich II and Mary Ladner.

Pete was born with a fun loving twinkle in his eye and a love for adventure and exploring and inventing something.  He was always thinking and trying to figure things out even until the end. He spent his boyhood in Louisville Kansas and attended schools in Louisville and Wamego, Kansas.  He traveled to Idaho to seek out the wife of his dreams and married Alice Edith Hansen August 20, 1940 in Payette, Idaho.  He then took his new bride to Los Angeles, California that year where he worked for the Los Angeles Railway and Douglas Aircraft.  While working for Douglas Aircraft he was given a "Win The War Certificate" for a part improvement on the Douglas Dauntless bomber airplane.  Their 1st child Alice “Pauline” was born August 30, 1941 in Bell, California.

Pete was drafted in the army in 1943.  After discharge from the army the family returned to Emmett for 9 years.  Their 2nd child Thomas Michael was born July 16, 1948.  There were numerous reasons for retuning to Inglewood, California, family, job opportunities and, of course, the ocean, the Pike and all the fun places were at the top of Pauline's list.  Idaho was still beckoning to them and Pete, Alice & Tom moved to Boise in 1961 and Pete was in the same house until passing.

Pete was a wonderful father, friend and was so proud of reaching the status of Great Great Grandfather and he was loved dearly and special to so many people he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by a daughter, Pauline Wutherich; grandsons: Timothy Conlon, Jeff Conlon (Tomie), Spencer Wutherich (Erika); great-grandchildren:  Chelsea Conlon, Cameron Conlon, Cory Conlon, Katie Conlon Paulson (Eric), Chris Conlon, Jeremy Conlon (Veronique), Meranda Thurston (Russell),  Parker Wutherich and Jack Wutherich; great great-grandchildren: Skyler Paulson, Karissa Paulson, Carter Thurston and soon to come Corbin Conlon.

Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Alice E. Wutherich; son, Thomas Michael Wutherich; brothers: Albert, Frank, George, Leonard & Orval Wutherich; sisters: Barbara Cobler, Ethel Mondt, Mary Marcella Stephenson, Ida Marie Patterson and Maggie Choquette.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 8 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 9th at the Meridian Friends Church, 1021 W. Pine.  A reception will follow at the church.  Graveside services will be held at Dry Creek Cemetery.

Dear Pauline; I am so glad that I was able to come out to Boise last October to help celebrate Peter's 92nd birthday. I really value the time we spent together and my being able to view many Alphorn videos and play the many horns that Peter built. My three Peter Wutherich Alphorn's hold a dear place when performing my show, "Howard Pink and His Musical Garden Hoses". And, thanks to the Oct. visit, I now have many photos of Peter and his horns, to share with my audiences. Thank you for all your hospitality during my visit. My thoughts are with you during this time of healing. May you be blessed for all the care giving you provided during Peter's last years. Howard Pink
