Martha Jane (Perry) Turner passed away Sept 1st, 2009. She was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on March 31, 1939 to Loyal and Mary Helen Perry.
Martha moved to Boise to begin a teaching position in 1961. She soon met Ron Turner, and they were married on September 22nd, 1962. They were blessed with five children. Martha was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She worked as a substitute teacher for several years and then began working at Boise State University in the Registrar's Office, where she worked until she retired in June 1999. Martha loved her Catholic faith and was actively involved in many church activities at St. Mark’s. She enjoyed reading, cross-stitch and spending time with her family. She was a very nurturing and caring woman with a lively sense of humor. In retirement, Martha continued her volunteer work with the church, gardening in her yard and traveling with Ron. Martha particularly loved to spend time with her grandchildren who have many special memories of Grandma playing with them for hours at a time. She had a gift for living in the moment and giving her focus to whomever she was with at the time. Martha is survived by her husband, Ron; brother, Loyal (Monica) Perry; sister, Ann (Roger) Graefe; daughter, Patty (Pat) Cooper; son, John (Alicia) Turner; daughter, Kathi (Chris) Connell; son, Steve (Diane) Turner; and son, Mark Turner. She had 14 grandchildren: Cole, Drew, Zach, Cheyenne, Emily, Kylie, Dalton, Spencer, Cameron, Kaitlyn, Isabella, Jade, Jenna and Abygail; and numerous nieces and nephews. Martha was preceded in death by her parents Loyal and Mary Helen Perry. Martha had one regret during her lifetime. She was never able to know her father. He was in the Navy and stationed overseas for several years before being killed in WWII when she was 6. Ironically, he died on the last day of the war. Finally, Martha will get her wish to see her father again. A special thank you to Harrison’s Hope Hospice, Emerson House and Caldwell Care Center for their loving care over the past year. A Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 7th at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8th at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 7960 W. Northview, Boise. Burial will be at Morris Hill Cemetery at 2:30 PM on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the St. Mark’s Food Bank, 7960 W. Northview, Boise, ID 83704 or a charity of your choice.

To the Turner Family-I am so sorry for your loss and you all are in my prayers. I only knew Martha as a neighbor, but I remember her and Ron helping me with fallen limbs in our front yard when my husband was ill. She just jumped right in and took care of what needed to be done! She seemed like a wonderful lady and I know you will miss her terribly. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. Vicky

Martha was my mom's cousin, & I adored her. When I was a child, Martha taught me to swim--she was the instructor in Twin Falls, Idaho. She also taught me to ride horses in the neighbor's field. I thought of Martha as my aunt & will really miss her kindness, love, & laughter. I know she's having a ball flying around with the angels & seeing everyone she knows already in Heaven.

The world lost a true beauty inside and out, but Heaven gained another angel. I will miss you dearly and will cherish my memories of you forever. Martha always made me feel her unconditional love, and her advice was right on! To Ron and her children may peace enter your hearts and may you continue the love and charity that your mother showed to all she knew.
