She was the second daughter for her parents, Alfred J. Jackson and Pearl J. (Batson). She graduated from Halltown High School May 12, 1937 and joined her sister in California to work at Murietta Hot Springs. Mabel married Glen Mackay Hoagland on January 22, 1943 in Chicago, IL. During World War II, she worked as a machinist for precise airplane parts in the war effort. When the war ended she was immediately laid off. As soon as Glen was discharged, they moved to Idaho into the Owyhee mountains at Reynolds Creek. Susan was born in 1946 and Paul was born in 1948. Glen and Mabel later bought and moved south of Melba to the Halverson farm. Mabel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and always ready to help when possible. She loved to fish, camp, and play cards. She has been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 46 continuous years. She worked in a dental lab and later devoted several years to her sister when she died of Alzheimers. She loved the Nampa Senior Center and the friends that she made there. The last few years, Mabel resided at Sunny Ridge Retirement Center. In March, she celebrated her 90th birthday and was overjoyed by the many friends that came to her party. She was independent, had many good friends and participated in lots of activities. She was totally happy with all aspects of her life. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Hoagland on February 13, 1991, her beloved sister, Eva Reed on May 1, 1998 and her parents.
