Katherine Javernick Print

KATHERINE (RENA) JAVERNICK

Rena passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 after living more than 91 years.
alt  Heritage Assisted Living had been her “home” for the past 11 years.  She was born in Williamsburg, CO (near Canon City).  Her parents Fiorina Barrera and Frank Parigi came to the United States from Italy and made their home in Colorado raising fruit and vegetables and working in the coal mines.  Rena had 3 older siblings:  Della Innes, Louie Parigi and Tony Parigi who lived their lives in Colorado.

Rena spent the early part of her life in Canon City, CO graduating from High School and working before she married Rudy Javernick in 1942.  Rudy Jr. was born in 1943 in Rio Tinto, NV while Rudy Sr. was in the Army.  After Rudy was discharged from the Army, they moved to Boise, ID to “build houses”.  Christine (Terrell) was born in Boise in 1949.

Rena worked for the State Highway Dept. and was a member of the Eagles and Eastern Star.  She loved to dance, crochet and spend time with her family and friends. She enjoyed corresponding with her mother’s family (Barrera) in Savona, Italy. Later in life she was an avid BSU basketball and football fan and enjoyed doing her word puzzles and Wheel of Fortune.  She was full of love and her smile told you how happy she was to see you.  She has 4 grandchildren; Matthew Terrell and Alex Terrell (Christine Javernick Terrell and Steve Terrell);YaJenne Javernick and Necole Javernick-Hodges (Rudy and Drena Javernick). She also has 7 great-grandchildren: Kozmo and Malachi (YaJenne); Bayli, Zoey, Joshua and Claire (Necole); and Madison (Matthew).

An open house is planned for family and friends to remember Rena on Sunday, October 18th at 3:00 p.m. at her daughter’s house:  Christine Terrell, 3282 S. Cadet Ave., Boise, ID.  Condolences may be left online for the family at www.accentfuneral.com
