Jewel Jones, 62, of Boise, passed away on Monday November 23rd at home after a courageous battle with MS.
Jewel was born March 6th, 1947 to Richard and Zelda Peacock in Burley, Idaho. She was the youngest of 5 (2 brothers and 2 sisters). She attended schools in Burley, Idaho and graduated from Burley High School in 1965. Upon graduation she attended Kin man Business School in Spokane and earned her junior book-keeping license. She moved to Boise in 1967 and began working for Interstate Electric at that time she continued there until 1976. She met her future husband in 1969 and the two were married June 15th 1973. Her oldest daughter (Judy) was born in 1976 and Son (Chris) in 1979. She was passionate about fishing and bowling and participated as much as she could in her spare time through out the years and as her health allowed. She started at Intermountain Orient Inc. in 1981 and continued there until her retirement in December of 2007. In 1988 she made a very important decision that changed the course of her life—she asked Jesus to be her Savior. She and her family began attending Sunrise Baptist Church that same year and continued there until 1991 when they moved there membership to Cherry Lane Baptist Church (now Central Valley Baptist Church) and continued there until 2007 when an extended illness kept her from continuing to attend. She missed being able to fellowship with her brothers and sisters in Christ and talked often of regaining strength enough to be able to return to her church family. In 1993 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, but she didn’t let the disease take her down, she fought it and continued working full time until 2007 when illness forced her to retire. But even then she didn’t give up, she continued with as much of her weekly routine as she could such as going to the hair dresser every week, getting her nails done, going out for dinner with friends and family, going out shopping and such up until four weeks before her death. Even a week before her death she talked about getting some in home physical therapy so she could regain strength to get out of the hospital bed. She did not give up easily—she was a fighter until the end. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by her husband Ron of 36 years; her daughter Judy of Boise; her Son Chris and daughter in law Tawni and grandsons Ethan and Grady all of Boise; her sister Arlene Burton of Burley; sister Barbara Bandy of Burley; brother Mike Peacock (Vicki) of Twin Falls; brother Jay Peacock (Sharon) of Burley; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends all over the united states. Donations may be made in her name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to Four Rivers Hospice who ensured that the last three weeks of her life were pain and worry free.

I enjoyed working with Jewel over the years, I was so sorry to hear of her passing. I was also surprised to see Mike was her brother as I went to school with both him and Vicky. My thought and prayers are with the family.

Our thoughts and sympathy wishes to the family. Jewel was not only a co-worker via long distance with our office, but became a very good friend. Her loyalty and hard work were much appreciated by us at RFL. She will be missed. Janis, Mark & Dan/RFL

Ron, Judy, Chris and families; I'm so sorry to hear about Jewel! I enjoyed her immensley and will miss her as much! I remember the time we went up the river and Ron scared me to death, Jewel got goosed by a tall weed and we laughed ourselves silly! Those are the times to remember, when she was healthy and vibrant! I'll always remember our days working at IOI, we did have some good times! Take care and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you! My love to you all!

I was very sorry to hear about Jewel. We became friends during her time at Interstate Electric. In the good old days, they allowed us to go and buy doughnuts every day. Jewel and I would often meet Ron, who was a beer distributor at the time, for coffee as part of our routine. So I was there when she began her courtship with her husband Ron. Jewel was a very kind person and always thoughful of others. We did lose track of each other through the years, but I am confident that she lead a full life that was filled with joy because of her great spirit for life. My condolences to Ron, their two children and family.
