Jerry D Knox, of Meridian, Idaho died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in the Spring Creek Manor Assisted Living facility after having survived a massive heart attack in September, 2007.

Jerry KnoxBorn in Burkburnett, Texas, August 14, 1925, to Grover Cleveland and Ina Lee Knox, Jerry moved to Idaho with the family at the early age of five years old.  Jerry graduated Twin Falls Senior High School in 1942.  Jerry joined the United States Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater at the age of 17.  Jerry returned to continue his education with five years in college at Idaho State University.  Jerry then went to work for the Standard Oil Company in Pocatello, Idaho.  After marrying Norma Irene Davis in 1949, the couple moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, and started their family of one girl and two boys.  Jerry continued his career as a mechanic and retired from the Firestone Tire Company in 1989, in Meridian, Idaho.  After returning to college in Boise, Idaho to learn Small Engine Repair, Jerry went into business for himself.  Jerry spent his free time traveling with Norma and serving as the President of the Meridian Senior Center for eight years; and received a commendation from the Mayor of the City of Meridian for his dedicated service to the community.

Jerry is survived by his wife Norma, daughter Judy (Doug) Nichols, and two sons Jeffrey D and Gary (Jody) Knox, three grand children Ashley Rosenbaum, Kyle Knox, and Jason Nichols; his sisters Betty Jo Lee, Joyce Anderson, Camille Klucsarits, and Donna Hobson.

A viewing for family and friends will be held at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N Main Street, Meridian, Idaho, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday March 10, 2010. 

Final interment services will be held March 12th at 10:00am at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, located at 10100 Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho, friends and family are welcome.  Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Meridian Senior Center, P.O.Box 606, Meridian, Idaho.  Condolences may be made to the family online at www.accentfuneral.com.
