Harvey "Glen" Littler Print

Harvey Glen Littler of Eagle, Idaho (formerly of Eveleth, MN) died peacefully at home on March 27, 2010, after battling liver failure for several months.

altHe was the first son born to Harvey Jay and Hazel (Clapp) Littler in Bemidji, MN on March 9, 1930.  After graduating from Nashwauk High School in 1948, Glen worked for the Hanna Mining Company before joining the Army.  On September 25, 1960, he married DeLoris Jean (Wodahl).  They eventually settled on Ely Lake in Eveleth, MN, where they raised their six children.

Glen’s life work was for the MN Department of Transportation out of Virginia.  His passion for providing a better work environment for all led to his becoming President of Council 6 of the AFL-CIO for the state of Minnesota.  He served in that capacity until his retirement in 1992; always working hard for the betterment of those he served.

Glen’s many interests included golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, bowling, square-dancing, and sky-diving. His musical talents included playing guitar and harmonica, of which the Spanish Fandango was a favorite.  He also enjoyed many summers working with Jerry and Jody in Wisconsin during cherry harvest.

After losing DeLoris in 1999, Glen relocated to Eagle, Idaho in late 2000 where he met Gloria, her daughter Wendy and family.  Glen and Gloria’s friendship grew into the second love of his life and he enjoyed the last nine years blending two families into one; spending time on the family farm, golfing and traveling to visit his siblings, kids and grandkids.

Glen is survived by his children, Jerry (Jody), Jeff (Mary), Les (Marguerite), Dori (Andy) Ege, Doug (Shelle) and Jeana (Anthony); his siblings, Helen, Gene (Carol) and Darrell (Sandy); his grandchildren, (Kayleigh, Megan and Ben); (Samantha and Courtney); (Harvey Jakob and Jana) and (Madison); Gloria, Wendy and family, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife DeLoris of 39 years and his sister Irene.

Visitation Services will be held at the Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home in Eveleth, MN on April 6th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church in Eveleth on April 7th at 1:00 p.m.

The family requests no flowers, but suggests memorials may be made to any Hospice or Veteran’s Association.
