George Lawrence Thomas, 90, died November 23, 2011 in Boise of natural causes. George was born August 11, 1921 in Saint Paul, MN, to Joseph
Ignace Thomas and Henrietta Sophie Cervenkova. He married June Collins on May 4, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA. George served in the Army under General Patton as a medic during World War II. He was employed by the Los Angeles Police Department for 20 years. After retiring he joined the staff at Los Angeles Valley College as an instructor and later became the chairman of Administration of the Justice Department. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions throughout his life.
George is survived by his wife, June, his three children: Merlyne and Paul Ziaya of Sandpoint, Idaho; Georgia and Cory Hainline of Washington; George and Georgene Thomas of Idaho City, Idaho; 9 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A gathering for friends and family will be held from 4 to 6 PM on Friday, November 25, 2011. Interment will be at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.
