Forrest W. Little Print
Forrest William Little, 92, of Meridian, died July 13, 2010 at a local hospital.  Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Idaho
Forrest LittleForrest was born June 13, 1918 to James D. and Alice (Mays) Little, in Howe, Idaho.  He was raised in Howe and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.  He entered the US Army in 1941 and saw action in New Guinea, Solomon Islands and the Philippines.  He was discharged after the surrender of Japan and worked as a U.S. Government Trapper in and around Butte County, Idaho.  On October 10, 1947 Forrest married LaVon Merrill of Arco, Idaho.  They were married in Blackfoot, Idaho.  They moved to Montana where Forrest owned cattle ranches in Dillon and then in Toston.  Forrest sold the ranch and moved to Shelley, Idaho and then eventually to Blackfoot, Idaho where he was employed by the A.E.C. (Idaho National Laboratory) as a reactor operator until his retirement in 1982.  At that time they moved to Meridian to be near their 3 children and grandchildren.  Forrest couldn't stay retired so he irrigated for Durite Nursery in Meridian for a number of years.

Forrest was a retired member of Atomic Workers Union and a former member of the Sunset Lions Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  A devoted husband, father and grandfather.  His mild manner and smile will be sorely missed.

Forrest is survived by his wife, LaVon Little of Meridian, children, Larry (Judy) Little of Boise, John (Monika) Little of Meridian, and Debra (Larry) Bowman of Meridian, grandchildren: Brandie Bowman of Meridian, Doug Bowman, Christy Little and Andrea (Jason) Bortles all of Boise, Jason (Jennifer) Little, and Becky (Terry) Brown, both of Indianapolis, IN and Starrlene Hensley of Meridian, 11 great-grandchildren, sister, Jean Werry of Boise, numerous nieces and nephews and long-time friend Wendell Hanson of Idaho Falls.  Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Forrest's name to the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be made to the family online at www.accentfuneral.com.

Larry and Family, We are thinking of you this weekend as you put your father to rest. Thinking about how the men of his generation have lived, truly defended our nation, and led the most amazing lives. As they pass on, our families and communities are left a little short handed, as we try to shoulder the loads they carried, and fill in the voids left in our lives. It is a challenge and feels like a daunting task, and we learn a little more about life as we do it.
