Ernestine "Teena" Treyz Print

Ernestine "Teena" Treyz, 84 passed away on Friday, October 9, 2009 in her home with friends at her side.  Teena was born March 2, 1925 in Pennsylvania to Ernest and Nellie Treyz and had one, brother, Reginald. 

 She spent her youth and college years in New York and spent each summer on the family homestead inTeena Treyz upper New York.  After college she and Reg created Camp Ernest, a family vacation camp, on the homestead property.  She had a Masters Degree in Education and brought a love of learning to young minds for 35 years.  She taught mostly in California, where she met her life-long best friend, Beth Biddick.  Beth joined Teena and Reg working summers at Camp Ernest and in retirement, the three of them moved to Beth's family home in Meridian.  There she met her travel companion, Lu Bates and over the next 20 years they took tours of many of the world's greatest wonders.  Trips to Egypt, Italy and China were the highlights of their travel.

Teena was preceded in death by her parents and brother.  At her request, there will be no service and her ashes will be interred at Sunnyside Cemetery in Long Beach, CA.  An informal gathering to celebrate her life will be held at her home at 788 NW 15th, Meridian on Tuesday, October 13th from 1:00 – 3:30 PM. 
 
We give a special thanks to Horizon Hospice and ABC Home Health for their care of Teena and for making it possible for her to spend her last days at home.  Teena, you are loved and will be in our thoughts forever.

To Ernestines family, My husband and I had the priviledge to bring meals on wheels to Erenestine and Beth. We enjoyed our visits with them so much. We do miss seeing them each Monday. Our prayers are with Beth and the family. in Christ, Karen and Bob Quinn

Teena was my kindergarten teacher and soon there after became a lifetime long family friend. My mom and I were so sad to hear of Teena's passing. We hadn't heard from her in a couple of months so I did some research and discovered Teena had passed away.
