Edward "Ted" Loughney Print

Edward J. "Ted" Loughney, F.I.C, 83 of Meridian died on May 11, 2010 at the Idaho State Veterans Hospital. 

altA Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 21st at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, Meridian.  Committal service will follow at the Holy Apostles Columbarium.  Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian.  Condolences may be left online for the family at www.accentfuneral.com.

Ted was born in Carbondale, Pa. the son of Edward J. Loughney and Josephine Dunleavy Loughney.  He was raised and attended school while living in Jermyn, PA.  Ted served in the U.S. Navy – Honorably discharged in 1946 after serving in the European-North Africa and Pacific Theatres.  In 1952 he married Catherine Meehan. 

Luke E. Hart, Supreme Knight of the Knights of Columbus commissioned him as Supreme Council Representative in 1955.  Thereafter he served the K of C as an employee and/or independent contractor in Pennsylvania, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey and finally Florida in the capacity of Supreme Council Representative, General Agent, Lobbyist and Field Agent until retirement in 1991.  At which time he was granted Honorary Life Membership in that Society and in its Fourth Degree.  In March 2007 he and his wife Kate left Florida after residing in Palm Beach Gardens for 31 years and moved to Meridian, Idaho.

Mr. Loughney was appointed an Advisor to the Insurance Commissioner of New Jersey while serving in that state.  He wrote and was responsible for the passage of an important piece of legislation while in that capacity.

Ted is survived by his wife of 58 years; five children: Kathleen Loughney Vaughan of Garden Valley, Idaho, Edward J. Loughney and his wife Monique of Meridian, Idaho, Kevin Loughney and his wife Donna of Boca Raton, Florida, Kieran Loughney and his wife Lorrie of Scranton, Pa. and Eileen Loughney St. Denis and husband Ronald of Garden Valley, Idaho; four grandchildren: Justin and Ryan Loughney of Boca Raton, Florida, Dylan Loughney of Scranton, Pa. and Caitlin Loughney of Meridian, Idaho.
