Donna Katie Patterson Olsen, 90, of Boise, passed away peacefully in her home Monday August 8th, 2011.
Donna was born November 1st, 1920 in Carey, Idaho, the daughter of William Oliver Patterson and Ethel May Dix. She was raised in the Carey area and after graduating from Carey High School she attended the teachers college at Albion Normal School. It was there that she met her husband Cecil Frank Olsen of Eden, Idaho. They were married on May 28th, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of 5 children. After the war, she received a Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. It was there she started her love of history, genealogy, and English literature. She taught in Ketchum and Carey, Idaho. She had a lifetime love of genealogy and family history and was an active member of the local chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 4 brothers, and a sister. She is survived by her 4 sons, Scott (Terry) of Clovis, California, Reid (Tammy) of Meridian, Dale (Marla) of Boise, Glen (Tawna) of Meridian, and 1 daughter Trudi (Bill) Mowrey of Boise: 2 sisters Carol Mosher of South Jordan, Utah and Reva Hanson of Shelly, Idaho, 17 grandchildren (her little beauties), 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will greet friends and relatives at a viewing Friday evening from 5 - 8 p.m. at Accent Funeral Home, 1303 N. Main St, Meridian, Idaho and 9 - 10:40 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to the funeral. Remembrances may be left online for the family at www.AccentFuneral.com.

One of the most gracious women who lived on this earth. I don't ever remember seeing her without her gorgeous smile. My family was always welcomed in her home for sleep overs when visiting Dale and Marla. We will miss her...Love to all the Olsen family. Joyce Swenson called while we were on an Alaskan cruise with our family and left a message on our voice mail informing us that Donna had past away. Donna and Cecil were two of the best people we have every known. So sorry we missed the viewing and funeral. Would have loved to see all the family and share our deepest sympathy and love. Please know that we will always hold the Olsens in highest esteem and regard. We love you all. You were blessed to have two of the best parents in the world. God bless! Thank you Donna for you laughter, love and care when Clint and I were living in Boise! Your love and zest for life will always be remembered! Jerry told me that Carol had notified him on Facebook about Donna's passing; later found this obituary. Donna was a wonderful person, the contact we had was always loving, as it usually is, I wish I would have gtten to know her better but we have all Eternity. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Aug.13th at the LDS Chapel located at 2290 Warm Springs Avenue. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery in Boise. Arrangements are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian, Idaho.
