Darleene Thorsted, 66 of Meridian passed away on Tuesday, August 2nd at a local hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 on Saturday, August 6th at the Meridian Assembly of God Church, 1830 N. Linder Road.
Darleene was born on December 4, 1944 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Charles Frances Perry and Violet Jean O’Keefe Perry. She spent most of her early childhood in Wheatland, Wyoming with her parents, brother and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Later her family moved to Twin Falls, ID where she graduated high school and went on to complete her Associates degree in Nursing from the College of Southern Idaho and then her Bachelors degree in Nursing from Boise State University. On November 1, 1974 she wed Lawrence Thorsted in Twin Falls, ID but early in their marriage moved to Meridian, ID where they considered Meridian their true home. Throughout her employment as a nurse she worked at various local hospitals, became the second person and first women to hold the position of the Executive Director for the Board of Medicine for the State of Idaho. Her position was Medicare Services Coordinator for the Boise Samaritan Village. Darleene enjoyed golfing, playing cards, working in her flower gardens and most of all spending time with her spouse, children, grandchildren and dear friends. Darleene is survived by her husband, Larry of Meridian; daughters: Melanie Hernandez and Deidra Holliday and son, Dennis McGillvary and brother, Chaz Perry; 8 grandchildren. Preceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Jean Perry. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Darleene’s name to Boise Samaritan Village, 3390 N. Collister Dr. Boise, ID 83703.
