Dale Reynolds Print
Dale Reynolds, 71, of Kuna passed away on July 13, 2011 at home after a brief battle with cancer.  alt Dale was born on July 31, 1939 in Boise, Idaho to Ben and Evelyn Reynolds.  He was the oldest of four children and they grew up working on the family farm in Kuna.  He enlisted in the Air National Guard in 1956 and after he graduated from Kuna High School in 1957 he did six weeks of basic training at Lackland Air Force Base.  When he finished he came back and enrolled at Boise Junior College where he took drafting classes and met the love of his life, Mary Louise McCoy.  After repeatedly proposing to her Mom finally said yes when he produced a ring with the proposal.  They got married on June 11, 1960, lived in Nampa for one year and then moved back home to Kuna.  Dale briefly worked for Albertson’s hauling chickens and turkeys (not his favorite job) and then went to work for Atkinson’s Mirror and Glass in 1961.  He worked his way up from boxing windows to installing windows to designing windows and eventually being a vice-president and part-owner.  In 1974 they moved the manufacturing plant to Nampa and Aluma Glass Industries was started.  Dale retired from Aluma Glass in 2001.  In addition to this full time job Dale farmed his 80 acres in his “spare” time.  He provided a good foundation for his two sons when they chose their career paths of farming and ranching.

Dale and Mary have three wonderful children David, Brian and Wendy.  They gave them 8 wonderful grandchildren, 4 boys and 4 girls, Dale’s grandkids were the light of his life.  He enjoyed watching them grow, teaching them and loved seeing all their achievements and accomplishments.  He had special times with each and every one of them.  This summer the Grandkids took turns picking Grandpa up and taking him to breakfast every day.  That was the highlight of his day and he looked forward to it and always made sure he knew who was picking him up the next morning.

Dale and Mary were asked to take over the Kavemen Kritters 4-H club and they tentatively agreed.  Thirty-five years later they were still at it.  They had a huge impact on many kids and families and loved seeing all the accomplishments and watching them grow.  Dad also was on the Advisory Board for the Kuna FFA program.   He started when the kids were in school and loved the job so much he was still helping and was currently serving as the chairman.  He helped with the fund raising auction every year, contributing several items he created out of his love for leather tooling and woodworking.

Dale grew up working with horses helping his Dad farm as well as his uncles and cousins.  Many a tale was told of the escapades growing up and the various things that they did to each other for pure entertainment – oh the good old days.  He was able to enjoy horses again and got to teach his grandkids how to ride, drive a buggy that he had constructed and got to share many parades with his grandkids and any other stray kid who had the good fortune to show up at the right time in Kuna and Melba for several years.

Dale was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge AF & AM #47 in Meridian where he served as Master for one year and the Kuna Lions Club.  He also served on the Market Livestock Sale Committee and the Kuna Cemetery Board.  Honors he received over the years were:  Honorable mention in the Metal Design National Contest, honored with the Distinguished Citizen Award through the Idaho Statesman, Idaho Press Tribune honored him and Mary for the 103 people of the year for volunteer services and received an Honorary State Degree from the Idaho State FFA.

Dale is survived by his wife Mary; his son, Dave and Karla (Mac, Tyler, Jessica, Amanda, Libby), son, Brian and Joan (Maggie, Zachary) and daughter, Wendy and Mike (Jacob) Rowland; his sister, Mary Lynn and Nick Nealis and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia and brother, Gary.

The family would like to thank Havenwood and Legacy Hospice for the wonderful care and support they provided during his last week.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kuna FFA Chapter 637 E. Deerflat Rd. Kuna, ID 83634 or the Dale Reynolds Memorial  to benefit the Canyon County Fair 4-H Awards, C/O Hepton Livestock 909 N. Robinson Blvd, Nampa, ID 83687.

My heart goes out to all of you...Mary and the kids. I had planned on seeing you in Aug at the family reunion. I am so sorry for your loss. Dale and I grew up together. Sat next to each other all thru school. I was so proud of Dale as a I became aware of how much he loved kids and how he contributed to the community. It was a highlight to ride in the parade a few years back with him and Mary. We didn't always appreciate each other as kids but that changed when we reunited in adulthood. Will, My husband thought Dale was tops. He will be greatly missed by all. My love to you Darlene
