Brian James Syverson passed away on Saturday June 13, 2009 in Eagle, Idaho. He was 42 years old.
Brian graduated from high school in Medford, Oregon where he was 1st team All-State in football and baseball. He attended Portland State University on a full baseball scholarship. Upon graduation from college, he joined Abbott Laboratories, Diagnostic Division. While Brian would not be one to share his accomplishments with others, his family was proud of his many successes. His final position was National Executive Sales Manager for Abbott Point of Care products. Brian was just plain fun. He worked hard and he played hard. He was a loving and generous man of integrity. He had so much zeal for life that it was contagious to everyone around him. He had a great appreciation for the outdoors and filled his extra time backpacking in the mountains, snow skiing, boating, hunting and motorcycling. His favorite times were spent coaching his sons in baseball and football. He strived for excellence and brought that out in all he came in contact with. Brian was a private man, mainly enjoying time with his family. He was creative and always working on something or looking forward to the next thing. Brian was a great husband, father, son, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all. He is survived by his wife Sue, sons Riley (11) and Jake (8), his parents Virgil and Marlene Syverson, brother Dain and sisters Kim George and Kristy Lenhardt. The memorial mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 19th at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 6300 N. Meridian Road, Meridian. Services are under the direction of Accent Funeral Home, Meridian. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.accentfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Brian Syverson Memorial Fund for his sons and is set up at the Wells Fargo branch in Eagle. Sue, We so enjoyed seeing Brian on so many occasions at the ballfields. He always took time to talk with us, ask about how Kyler was playing, and even talk to & encourage Kyler. Kyler loved playing for Brian and Coach Veerkamp on the AAA Rockies. Our hearts go out to you, R.J., and Jake. When All-Stars are over (or sooner if you want), I would love to introduce R.J. and Jake to someone I admire, Jim Everett. Do you know Jim? He is the CEO of the Treasure Valley YMCAs, and a very inspiring man. His father also died when he was a young man, and the loss was very difficult for Jim to overcome. I have spoken with him about R.J. and Jake, and Jim would just love to have them come down to the Y, and he would love to help in any way he can. Hopefully we will see you at Duck Alley during Districts. Kyler is playing with the 9/10 year-olds. Please accept our condolences, and keep in touch! Adam
