Armond Taylor Print

Armond Clark Taylor 1918 - 2011 Armond Clark Taylor was born on November 9, 1918, the only son of Albert Armond and Ruth (Newmeyer) Taylor in Portland Oregon. Armond passed away on April 12, 2011 at home with family by his side.

altGrowing up, Armond's family moved to various locations in Washington State, Oregon and Utah. He graduated from East High in Salt Lake City, Utaho and attended the University of Utah and Washington State University. Armond met the love of his life, Betty Lorraine Mahood in Everett, Wa. They were married on April 13, 1941 and spent the next 70 years together. Armond began his life-long career with the Union Pacific Railroad at Tacoma, Wa in 1941. During WWII, he was frozen into his job. One of his duties was being the UPRR representative on the Troop Trains out of Fort Lewis heading east to connect with the ships going to the Eastern Front. For the next twenty five years he worked in the Traffic Dept in various positions all over the state of Washington. He became Traffic Manager for Boise Idaho and retired here in 1978. He and Betty decided to spend their retirement years in Boise. In his younger years, Armond belonged to a Magician Association and enjoyed learning the craft and performing. He played the bass violin in dance bands in Utah and Washington and passed on the love of music to his children and grandchildren. Armond was very active in the First Baptist Church of Boise and for the last eleven years was the lay pastor at the log Cabin Church (UBC). He had the great honor of performing the wedding ceremonies for all of his grandchildren. Armond enjoyed gardening, fishing, rock hounding and antiquing. He loved people and never met a stranger. his enthusiasm for life and his positive attitude will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Nicole Knapp of Moses Lake WA., daughter Julie Anne Lewis (Chips) of Washington, daughter Kathleen Griffin (Reese) of Spokane, he was preceded in death by daughter Lorraine Rollins Pueschal (Steve) of Boise in 2006. he leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Misty at St Lukes' and Heart N Home Hospice Care for their loving care and support. A celebration of Armond's life will be held Saturday May 7th at 6p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Boise. It will be a bright casual dress code celebration reflecting Armond's love of life and soaring spirit.
